Even if you your service or product is for everyone, there is a group of people who you can identify better, understand them and create that connection through your brand. You can be the Rebel, who owns a homemade candle business, and sell candles with not so “proper” looking shapes, and you gain customers by branding your business to those who will buy from you.

Because anyone can buy candles, but your candles will attract who you target to, those who are ready to buy from you.

Here we will define some of the demographics (if you are selling to locals, national, international), pain points (what’s the pain you solve with your business, e.g. for selling candles of any kind, people who are looking for a birthday present, korky decorations, other businesses, businesses looking for a signature smell for their brand, etc. the limit is the one you put yourself in.

Here, we you will craft a message; this message will speak directly to your ideal client, which we defined above. We will talk to their needs, goals and desires that they would get from your services and products. We move away from generic speak and you will make your message sound like you, but clearer and confident!

This message can be used when you are networking, on the copy of your website, or posting on social media, that message will serve you as a base to boost your business confidence! In this step, we guide you through a formula that keeps your message clear, emotional, and result-focused, this way your audience sees you as a solution, not just as another provider.

By Creating a defined Brand Message, you’ll gain:

  • A simple, powerful way to explain what you do in one sentence (your brand statement)

Here we use the Venn diagram approach: You (skills/values) + Your Client (needs/desires) + Your Market (gaps). Where these overlap is your UVP.

Step 5: Defining Your Brand’s Personality and Voice

Every brand has a vibe, yours should too. A vibe can be bold and energetic, soft and professional, etc; in this step we will choose three to five personality traits and describe how your brand should sound online, on print, or anywhere your business is.
