As Business Owners, we ALWAYS need to hear again that: Consistency is what turns Recognition into Trust! Your Business can have the most beautiful Logo, Color palette, Website Design in the World, BUT if your brand is different on every platform you use, your audience will notice and back away from you!
Consistent Design Elements Reinforce Recognition and Trust in Your Brand
Remember, every time your potential client interacts with your brand, they create a mental idea of who your business is, what you do, and what you sell. So, when your fonts, colors, voice, and design style keep consistent, they create the connection between them and YOU, they feel like they know you and can trust you and your business.
This Trust will translate into sales, into referrals, and they will become your loyal customers!
Brand Guidelines are not-negotiables
But Ana, How can I be consistent with my brand? I can’t remember everything!

Yeap, I heard you! For my brand, I have a post-it for my colors (when I’m not using Adobe), just because I’m too lazy to look back at my actual Brand Guideline Poster! But don’t be like Ana!
Especially if you have contractors and employees working on designs for your business, like social media managers, content creators, graphic designers, web designers, etc! You need a Brand Guideline, even if you just have a Logo, a couple of colors defined, and a font.
Everyone who designs anything for your business (including yourself) should have a Brand Guideline AND USE IT!
What a Brand Guideline should include?
Well let’s see, if you don’t have a defined Brand Identity (which includes way more than what we have below), you should add:
- Correct Use of your Logo – Add the How you can use it and How not to use it.
- Your Color Palette Codes, for printing, viewing digital, all of them! and How to combine them.
- Font List! What font is for Headings and versions, What Font is for General Copy
- Voice and Message, How do you speak to your people, your approach, values.
- Photo style, are you a minimalist or a bold and noisy one? Add examples!
This will be your Bible! Not to be too crazz with that term, but it’s a Guideline on how to use your Business Brand! The brand that you are nurturing, so Use it strategically! Keep your business aligned to it and become recognizable and trust worthy!
A Brand without a Guideline is not a Brand Ready for Growth
If every time you post something somewhere, can be social media, newspaper, website, wherever; you post the designs of the newest flashy designs on Canva, or something you saw on Instagram, TikTok, etc. You use them, and on each post you use different design styles; and maybe on your website, you use what you saw in someone else’s web design. So every platform you use the design style is different in between.
Yes, you probably will have clients coming in to you, but what about the broken connections that over time happen, that’s when inconsistency becomes your enemy. It breaks the trust your potential clients were building with your brand; they’ll go to another one just because they feel a permanent connection and not a momentary one.
Creating trust is the biggest outcome from having an established Guideline AND following it.
Key Takeaways of a Consistent brand and the correct use of Brand Guidelines

- A style guide ensures alignment across all brand touchpoints.
