How many times have we had to go into Google trying to find the business our friend recommended to us? How many times do we get uninspired to hire them because of their website?
Remember that tasty dessert that your partner’s coworker brought the last Christmas party and they were delicious, and when googling them you found a website that looked… dirty? obviously DIY made, couldn’t found the contact button, the products page had their offers all over the place, and no way to order, or contact them…
So… you just close the site and google for a different option, finding a business that has a website professionally designed, their contact info is easy to find, can find all the different options, the photos load fast, are clean; the information within it’s homepage is precise and up-to-date, etc.
That image gives your business brand consistency, clarity, all designed with a strategic approach.

A Non-Strategic Website creates distrust, no conversions, no visits to your Online Store!
Today, having an online presence is mandatory but having The Correct Online Presence is Essential for your business’s success!
Having a “gorgeous” website is not enough, you need a website designed with a strategy on how your potential clients can & will find you; what’s the second step after they found you; where they get involved with your products or services; and tons of other small but impactful decisions when creating your website.
I, Ana Tamez, Brand, Graphic and Website Designer, who lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada; and the amount of competitors, not just from my industry but from my clients, is massive. The way ATamez Design can help our clients to increase their visits is through our strategic approach.
When we design your website we plan strategically your sitemap and roadmap; and help you to create the right content (text and images) that will give you so much in return. We provide you with a guide to create the copy in your website, a copy that will help you to communicate and engage with your potential clients in a strategic way.
The Aesthetic Appeal: A Good Starting Point
Let’s not downplay the significance of a visually appealing website. Your website’s design is the first impression you make on potential customers, same as your logo can be. Your website should reflect your brand identity values, brand message; it should convey professionalism, and create a positive perception of your services.
In a city like Calgary, where competition is fierce, a beautiful website can help you stand out. However, aesthetics alone won’t guarantee success. To truly thrive as a service provider in a competitive market, your website should be strategically designed to convert visitors into customers.
Your website should be designed like a dance created between a pretty design and a strategic approach that will create the rhythm for your potential clients to contact you, be a recurrent client, be a new lead; or whatever is your goal when they find you.
User-Centric Web Design: Catering to Your Audience
Service providers often make the mistake of designing their websites to showcase only their skills and expertise without considering the needs and preferences of their target audience. A strategically designed website focuses on your Potential Client.
Your website should be:
Be User-Friendly
The Navigation of your website should be intuitive, meaning easy to go through it; and all the necessary information for your client to find about you that should be easy to find. Visitors should not have to work hard to understand what you offer; or to find how to contact you.
Mobile Responsiveness
Today, mobile devices dominate the world… pretty much! And because of that, your website must be optimized for various screen sizes. Mobile users should have a seamless experience, same as your desktop users. Your website can have a completely different layout when on mobile than when on desktop, that would depend on the hosting your website designer is using.
Quick Website Loading Times
Visitors are impatient… Remember the last time you kept clicking the reload button because a website wasn’t loading as fast as you wanted it? Yeap, that’s why is important not to have a slow website as that can drive them away. Ensure your site loads quickly to retain your audience! Optimize your photos and videos, and delete the codes and plugins (when using WordPress) that are not in use.
Clear Calls-to-Action (CTA)
A strategically placed CTA buttons guides users toward the actions you want them to take, whether it’s requesting a quote, booking a service, or subscribing to your newsletter.
Is important to treat the CTA like the visitors of your website have no idea what you do, or what they are clicking for in that button. Meaning, explain where the button will take them, e.g.
- Contact Us
- Book Your Appointment
- Subscribe
- Submit Information
- Request a Quote
- Call Us
- Learn More
- About Our Company
- All of our Services

Content That Speaks to Your Audience
Beyond the strategic design, your strategic content on your website plays a critical role. Content should not only inform but also resonate with your potential clients.
Here are some content strategies for service providers:
Educational Blog Posts
Just like this blog post; sharing valuable insights, tips, and industry knowledge positions you as an expert and provides a reason for visitors to return to your site. Blog posts that educate your potential clients are important to create a relationship within them and your business. They feel they can trust your expertise, and they invest in your business offers.
Case Studies / Portfolio
Showcase your successful projects or client stories to build trust and demonstrate the value you bring. You can create a specific list of questions where your client can include the answers within their storie; create a short video, ask your clients to record themselves while opening your products; create a video of you creating what the client adquired from you.
Testimonials
The testimonials can be a game changer when someone buys anything. Just like the latest luggage I bought, I research which one would be the best when travelling internationally, and would last long enough for multiple trips, etc. and I discarted so many because of the testimonials/reviews. Remember, authentic feedback from satisfied customers reinforces your credibility.
Clear Service Descriptions
Your services should be well-defined, and benefits to the client should be highlighted. This will help your potential clients know if you can help them, without having to go around it for long, getting miss within your website information.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Your Online Visibility
A beautiful website won’t be effective if no one sees it. SEO is the key to driving organic traffic. This involves optimizing your site for search engines like Google, so it appears in search results when potential customers look for services like yours.
Effective SEO includes:
Keyword Research
It’s extremely important to identify the terms and phrases your target audience uses when searching for services in a specific location, such as “Calgary web design for service providers,” which could be one of my keyword research, a how you might have foudn this post.
At ATamez Design, we provide our clients with a guide to create their website’s copy, while maintaining it SEO friendly.
On-Page Optimization
Optimizing your website’s content
| Images | Pixels | Ideal File Size |
| Background | 1920px X 1080px | 500KB |
| Full-width banners | 1280px X 720px | <500KB |
| Blog Images | 1200px X 630px | <250KB |
| Thumbnails | 150X px 300X | 200KB |
Make sure your videos don’t take too long to load.
SEO Title and Meta descriptions
It’s important your find where you can input them within your hosting. Why? because it tells search engines know what the specific page is about, this will let them know in which category they can place you, so when someone searches online a product or service related to yours they can find you easily! Thsi would have to be done per page, use different titles and meta descriptions so they don’t compite with eachother cancelling eachother our.
Headers
Each page of your website should have only one H1 (Heading 1), that will help search engines know more about the page it’s reading about. Then, make sure to add appropriately H2 (Heading 2), H3, etc. add your keywords naturally and when it makes sense to be on it, only.
Local SEO
Focusing on local search optimization to ensure you appear in local listings and maps. If you have a store, add your business address to your website, embed the map from a Maps software (like Google maps). If you don’t have a place or don’t receive clients in your office, add the name of the city you are located at.
This can be added naturally within the content of your copy, and your SEO set-ups.
Quality Backlinks
Building high-quality backlinks from reputable sources to improve your site’s authority. But first,
What’s Backlink?
A Backlink is when when a website links within their content to another site. For example, in an interview posted in a News website, the article links to the website the interviewed owns or shares part of their story in it. So, if you get in a podcast, interview, share something with a business who has a website, ask them to add the link to your website, and make it crawdable, this will help search engines to find you resourceful and will keep you in a higher position on their search pages.
